Nickel-based catalysts are currently the subject of intensive study in search for novel electrode materials non-enzymatic glucose sensing. Their strong activity towards electrooxidation and intrinsic resistance to chloride poisoning makes these ideal candidates development affordable stable sensors. In this review, mechanism at Ni electrodes is described, clarifying effect different phases on their catalytic activity. Moreover, a brief background provided, supplemented by computational studies.
